“Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself.
Go forward and make your dreams come true.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Author 1803 – 1882
I am inspired by the music, food and history of Spanish-speaking Latin countries and have enjoyed visits to Spain, the Dominican Republic, Perú, Ecaudor, Colombia and México. Many of my adventures are reviewed as a Senior Contributor on TripAdvisor.com.
After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from the Atlanta [Georgia] College of Art (now SCAD) and working for several years in Graphic Design and Information Technology, I found myself wanting more, and set the goal of traveling to all 21 Spanish-speaking countries (so far I’ve reached six). In order to fulfill this dream as well as satisfy my desire to give back to the world, I switched careers and pursued a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, which I received in 2012 from the International Teacher Training Organization in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
My current adventure is volunteer teaching in Barranquilla, Atlántico on the hot, Caribbean coast of Colombia, where I have been living since January 2014. Teaching helps to support my love of travel and also allows me to help others learn English, which quickly becoming a Universal language. Although many aspects of my life are challenging, the rewards make me grateful for each new day.
