I began volunteering with Que?Pasa Bar and Grill’s La Brigada de La Basura in November 2011, cleaning El Rio Cuale, which runs through the beautiful Colonia Emiliano Zapata and ends in the Bahia de Banderas in Puerto Vallarta. I return whenever possible to volunteer; the group meets on Saturdays at Que?Pasa before setting out to tackle the trash.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the founder (and Que?Pasa owner) Michael Hayes, or show up when we meet at 11:30 a.m. Experience with kids is helpful, as is being fluent in Spanish on a conversational level.
Some of the kids and adults from La Brigada de la Basura have become my favorite friends here, as we have gotten to know each other, working together to beautify and preserve our beloved city.
